Eczema Symptom !

Many eczema symptom are associated with eczema. Since eczema is of several types, its symptoms are in a big number. However, they remain mostly the same with the difference of the affected parts of the body.

The symptoms are:

  • Lip inflammation (Cheilitis)
  • Itchy skin
  • Lichenification (leathery skin) - from excessive rubbing
  • Inflamed skin
  • Hyperpigmented eyelids
  • Skin redness
  • Papules (small raised bumps)
  • Skin cracking
  • Crusting
  • Blisters
  • Red cheek rash
  • Hyperlinear palms (extra skin creases in the palms)
  • Crusty rash on cheek
  • Arm rash
  • Crusty arm blisters
  • Atopic pleat (Dennie-Morgan fold) - extra fold of skin under eye
  • Scaling
  • Skin swelling
  • Leg rash
  • Crusty leg blisters
  • Rash inside the elbow
  • Rash behind the knees
  • Difficulty sleeping - because of the itch
  • Allergic shiners (dark rings around the eyes)
  • Ichthyosis (scaly skin areas)
  • Keratosis pilaris (small, rough bumps)
  • Urticaria – hives
  • Weeping

Symptoms of discoid eczema:

  • Blistered patches
  • Small round patches
  • Itchy patches

Symptoms of atopic eczema in infants:

In children, atopic eczema symptoms usually start around age 3-4 months.

  • Weeping spots
  • Scalp rash
  • Facial rash
  • Small spots
  • Itchy spots

Eczema occurs in three phases.

  • Acute

In acute phase, tenderness, heat, pain, and possible itching occur.

  • Sub acute

In this phase of eczema, the symptoms include crusting and redness. There occurs no intense swelling and the patients complain more about itching than the pain.

  • Chronic

People who suffer the disease for over three months are faced with the chronic stage of eczema. In this phase they have to suffer more itching, which causes furtherance in wounds.
