Dyshidrotic Eczema !
Also phrased as pompholyx that is derived from cheiropompholyx, which means "hand and bubble" in Greek,dyshidrotic eczema is a persistent or recurring degenerated type of vesicular palmoplantar dermatitis of unidentified etiology. Dyshidrotic eczema is believed to be multi-factorial.
It is supposed that several exogenous factors and endogenous conditions cause dyshidrotic eczema.
Symptoms of Dyshidrotic Eczema:
• You will experience excessive itching at the site of the inflammation.
• You may notice fissures or cracks on the fingers or toes.
• Your large sized blisters may cause you pains.
Dyshidrotic Eczema Treatments:
Keeping skin cool and dry is the first step in the treatment of dyshidrotic eczema. Also avoiding sweating, scratching, and heat as possible are recommended. Below is a list of some dyshidrotic eczema treatment choices.
- Moisturizers
- Avoid anti-pruritics as it may cause an increase in itching.
- Avoid strong topical steroids.
- Irritating materials usually get trapped under rings and worsen the dyshidrotic eczema. You should remove your rings before washing your hands and when doing housework.
- You should apply weak solutions of aluminium acetate, condy's crystals (potassium permanganate), or vinegar in water, for 15 minutes 4 times a day. Depending upon the severity of your dyshidrotic eczema, you can achieve dried up blisters within a week. You should not apply the soaks for dry eczema as it is not suitable for the type.
- You can use hand creams (emollients), dimeticone barrier cream for example, to keep the skin soft. You should do it liberally and frequently to achieve the best results.
